Zero Waste Campaign

Yesterday I emailed my district council asking them to consider doing a Zero Waste Campaign, similar to those that have been done in both Gloucestershire and Essex.

I got a reply late yesterday afternoon, saying
Quote "Thank you for your email regarding the Zero Waste week promotion, It is not something I have been involved in before, however after looking it up, it does seem like something that could be very interesting and also very educational.
Thank you very much for bringing it to our attention, and I shall hopefully be in touch in the near future to give you details on the campaign."Unquote.

This is to me a positive reply and I am hopeful that my local district council will follow this through.

  1. I hope you get positive follow up from this too. You've really inspired me - it would be great if everyone wrote to their councils and requested a zero waste week.

    Good luck!

  2. It was through following your week and Mrs A's links that made me think to write and ask the question.

If you don't ask you don't know.

  4. Yay Maisie, that's fab. Good on you. Do let us know what they say. Which district is it, by the way?

  5. The district is East Lindsey, who provide the doorstep collection etc, but the HWRC is run by Lincolnshire County COuncil.

  6. Maisie, great idea!! :)

I do see the reply as positive too!! :)
/but as all have said, do follow up if you don't hear from them for a while!/

Can you tell who exactly you wrote to? The garbage department or the Mayor or...? Not sure who to contact/talk to regarding this here..(?)
And maybe it would be good to be prepared with some handouts etc, examples of what people have done elsewhere.. (?)

  7. Hi Layla, some I answered on MZW but I haven't spoken to anyone else only my immediate family (DH & 2 DS's).

They know I will do it regardless of what they say anyway, as it is me that deals with our rubbish.
